New Plan....Again.
Drugging scene....
Sarah crushing up the drug. We used asprin for the tablets then swapped it with health salts to pour in the drink so it would fizz (shown in picture below.
In this picture, its a shot of the glass and within the glass you can see the killer walking away. This is effective because you can see their whole body but the glass distorts their body shape making it difficult to know if the killer is female or male.

Problems...
The Forest scene, the audio is sort of poor. We filmed near a river and the sound fades Beth out a bit. Also, when we use different shots, you can tell they're different part of time as the sound of the shots changes. For example, one shot the river is quiet and in another shot the river is loud.
The party scene, the lighting was all over the place. When beth is getting ready the lighting is bright and when shes going down the stairs it's really dark. We need to make it look like it's night time and the lighting from outside ruins it.
The music, doesn't really fit into the genre very well. We need music that fits into a party style theme but also needs to have a bit of horror in it to show the genre of the film opening.

These are the un-edited clips that i quickly put together for this blog. In the video they are slower and goes with the video quite well.

Difference between an opening and a trailer?
- Provides a summary or plot outline
- character roles are clearly defined (Propp)
- Short and varied clips from entire film
- Audience gets clear idea of equilibrium (Todorov)Music is a selling tool
- Voice Over
Opening
- Engima codes (Barthes)
- Character roles are limited, main character shown only
- Establishing shot for setting
- Action shots (Barthes)
- Audience gets a hint of disequilibrium
- Titles are imaginative and fit genre
- Variety of shots are used
- Does the audience want to carry on watching?
- Does the music fit the genre
Our Work is definatly an opening because it fits the opening criteria and doesnt fir the criteria of a trailor.

New Idea for opening....
This is the opening of our new idea. It is a rough copy. We are going to add in shots of Beth Day putting her make-up on and place them inbetween the shots of Robert Williams looking at the knife. We may have to either speed up the clips or cut them down to fit in to the end of the music.
We have decided to cut out the party scene and replace them as flash backs. We decided this because our ideas would have not fitted in with the time limit that we have been given. We will use the flashbacks for when Beth day starts to wakes up in the woods.

(Boy) Dan stood in the kitchen.
Beth walks into the room.
Danny: "Hey" *Hugs Beth*
Abi looks over and gives them evils in the background.
(Boy) Dan turns round to get drink.
(Girl)Dani walks out of room
Beth walks over to Abi.
(Boy) Danny walks out of room aswell.
Abi: "Wha'cha think you're doing talking to him?"
Beth: "Just saying Hi"
Abi: "Well don't he's mine"
Beth: "He isnt your property!"
*Abi slaps Beth*
*Sian walks in to get a drink*
Beth walks out leaving Abi on her own.
Abi drugs a drink and leaves it on the side
camera zoom out whilst Abi walks off
Beth comes back in to get a drink *Shakes an empty bottle*
She see's the drugged drink and drinks it.
New idea, Same story....
We were planning on waiting for Sian's friend to have her party so borrow it for our film opening but we thought by that time, filming the opening would be too late. So instead of having a full party scene, we will film in Sian's kitchen of Beth and Abi having an argue ment over Dan.
To show that the scene is a party, we'll have muffled music in the background, empty bottles on the side and, just loads of random party stuff. They way we think it'll work is that we'll have Dani and other people walking in and out of the kitchen to make it look busy.

Some ideas for shots
Close Up, Zoom Out...To open the wood scene, we open with a close up on the main characters eye then we'll zoom out to catch the characters reaction in waking upin the woods the morning after the party. There will also be eery music which plays throughout the film.

More Inspiration
Wev'e used this scene as inspiration for our movie opening. we like the idea of a girl being drugged and want to use this in our opening. we think when she walks through the crowd and everywhere is blurred it makes the audience wonder whats going to happen and creates a good enigma code.
Inspiration
we like this opening because the title comes up first and creates an immediant enigma code for the audience. we think who or what is lost?
we also like the idea of the zoom in on his eye and him waking up in the forest not knowing where he is.
We would like to use the forest bit as inspiration for when our girl wakes up in the middle of nowhere not knowing whats gone on either.
Inspiration
i couldn't get the actual movie opening because of copyright but this still shows what were looking at. we like the idea of the running through the bushes and think it makes a very effective dramatic scene.
We were thinking about using this kind of idea when the girl in our movie gets kidnapped and she wakes up in forest wondering where she is. we think it would make a good panic secene.

People & Characters
Beth Day - main character Name -Megan
Abi Edwards - The bad friend Name - Regina
- The random Guy/rapist Name - Josh
Extra's/Party People - Sian Taylor, Natalee Mobbs, Anna Masters, Robert Williams, Tom Betts, Jordan, Laura, Dani Tuffen
Distribution company - Summit Entertainment
Production Company - Sibain Productions
BRAINWAVE - In the party scene, we could do three shots in one at some point. It was inspired by the B&Q advert :).
Inspiration - Sorority Row Opening Scene
The genre of this film is Horror/Thriller, we know this because at the very beginning we hear a girl sceaming which is a connotation of something bad happening later on in the film.
When five sorority sisters of Theta Pi cause the death of one of their own during a foolish prank gone wrong, they conspire to discard the evidence and never speak of the nightmare again.
Set in a sorority house. The girls are wearing night wear which is stereotypical of american college girls. There is Party music in the background. It changes when the scene gets serious. We know this is a college party because everyone is drinking, loud music in the background, half-naked, things are getting broke, the house is a mess and strobe lights are flashing. The camera angle is like a point of view short at the beginning due to it following people around and moves like its not on a tripod.
The target audience is aimed at teenagers to young adults. They are represented as college girls who like to party, drink and play pranks. The steroetypes are effective because it fits in with the typical college horror film.
This is also similar to my idea because everything is generally what I'm thinking of doing although i dont want it to be completely similar to this film. In one scene where they think the victim is dead, the people who drugged her, takes her out to the woods and leave her there, then she wakes up after.
Our Opening
The target audience will be teens/young adults.
We don't know where I'm going to shoot my film. We might shoot one scene at someones house and then shoot another part in auburn place as our film is about a girl at college getting drugged and so we'll have a scene where shes running away from the bad guy. Not sure about this as we'll probably need permission to do what we want. We just want a long corridor for the victim to run down and we could use Auburn place as a dorm.
The storyline is a girl goes to a party and someone spikes her drink, then she decides to go but gets kidnapped. Then she wakes up the next morning finding herself in the woods and may even be raped, but we wont show the actual raping cause that would be discusting! We might just use objects that indicates that shes been raped such as ripped clothing, bruises etc we're thinking of the best friend falling out with the victim and so she spikes the drink, just to give a reason for what happened. not quite sure what they fall out over yet.
Our Characters will be the lead as the victim, the best friend as a villian, the rapist as the bad guy obviously and extras as the people at the party. and not sure who else we will need at the moment.
The costume we will need is just outgoing clothes that people where when they go out to a party, but we think we need to get an outfit for the victim that is ok to ruin. we will need to get make-up to create the bruises as the person playing the victim wont appreciate having real bruises.
The Props that we will need is just mainly party stuff and need to get a tablet that fizzes in a drink for the drugging. Need party lights and other stuff to show its a party.
The soundtrack will be music that is relevant to a party scene and when the scene gets more serious, the music changes to a serious mood aswell.
